The Canadian national news just did a news piece with
me this evening on ShortOnChange.com and foreclosures here in
the U.S. Apparently, Canada has not yet had a problem with
astronomical foreclosures; but they are watching the U.S. and
starting to worry. I was just in Vancouver a week or so ago; and
although they may not have foreclosure problems yet, someone
there did say that they are just now starting to see a slowdown
in the real estate market (I told them to get out now).
One of the television
people emailed me earlier in the day to see if I would like to
do an interview with them or if I knew of someone who could. I
had other plans (going to see the new Batman) and thought about
sending them someone I had met through this website, but then I
realized that this might be a tremendous opportunity for
publicity (which ShortOnChange.com could surely use as traffic
is not nearly as astronomical as foreclosure rates). I spent the
day emailing them back and forth. I sent them a picture of my
golf course house and a picture of me from today with the condo
towers behind me (unfortunately, they cut out the towers and
zoomed in on my face which is better from a distance) and a
ShortOnChange.com logo (which they, regrettably, did not use).
The interview was to be a
live interview between me and the news anchor via telephone. It
was scheduled for 8:10 pm Central Time Zone. At 8:10 or so, a
station rep called me and prepped me for the call. He explained
that he was going to hook me up to the shows audio feed during
which time I could listen only, there would be a short break,
and then I would be interviewed by the anchor for my piece. All
was good; then they hooked me up to the audio and it was a piece
about Barrack Obama in Berlin, and I was supposed to follow
Obama! Why they crap would they put me on after a Presidential
candidate? That is when I got nervous, very nervous. Barrack is
a far better speak than me.
The anchor lady, whom I
had never met or spoken with previously or even emailed, was
very nice (this is all being done by phone). She asked her
questions. I gave my answers. I think I may have babbled a
little bit and strayed a little from the questions (hey, so does
Obama); but that was really just due to nerves, I think.
Overall, I think I did a good job for my first national news
interview. I do regret that they never had the website address
on the screen and that it was only mentioned once during the
interview.
Pretty soon after the
interview, I started my media campaign to all of the television
stations in the area - Pensacola, Mobile, Ft. Walton,
Montgomery, Miami, Tampa, Orlando - to see if any of them might
be interested in a similar story. I will keep you posted on as
to whether or not anything comes of this.
