Noah's Legal Bills (Updated 11/25/08)

Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer. I am only publishing my interpretation of my situation. You should seek your own legal representation for your own particular situation. Do not rely on my opinions or statements for your own purposes as state and local law varies as do individual circumstances.

As all of you know, I am facing some pretty tough financial times due to some real estate deals that have turned upside down. Of four properties, three will not even sell for half price. On top of that, those three properties will not even rent for anywhere near what is needed to cover the existing mortgages. As such, I have decided that I can no longer carry this debt. These three are going back to the banks in foreclosure. Along with that comes a lot of collection calls and legal bills. This page is a running tally of my legal bills in regards to my foreclosure and bankruptcy (if it comes to that - which I think my lawyer is pushing). This should give you a feel for how much money legal bills can run a person. Please keep in mind that these bills are for Escambia County Florida and only for the legal bills charged by my own personal lawyer. The legal bills noted on this page do not reflect fees charged by plaintiff lawyers or court charges or such. Legal expenses vary greatly by location and attorney... but you'll get an idea at least of the money involved. I first started incurring billable hours from my lawyer in April of 2008.

Date Hours Rate Amount Description
07/01/08 1.80 $162.50 $292.50 Foreclosure review and paperwork for three properties (04/10/08-06/10/08).
09/07/08 4.10 $225.00 $832.24 Foreclosure reviews and paperwork mainly for the main house.
Small Claims Court work for unpaid condo association dues.
11/01/08   $225.00 $90.00 Foreclosure work
11/17/08 0.90 $225.00 202.50 Foreclosure work including receipt and review of affidavit of amounts due from mortgage companies and representation at Summary Judgment Hearing for condo going into foreclosure
11/24/08 0.30 $225.00 $67.50 Foreclosure details for 13555 Perdido Key Drive Unit 3C (This foreclosure sale was later cancelled by Wells Fargo).
TOTALS: 5.9   $1,484.74

I will update this page as I receive more bills. Even though I am substantially in debt and do not have enough to pay all of my bills, paying my lawyer has become one of my priorities as I make my way through these murky waters. Throw me an oar or a comment if you get a chance.
