My house finally showed up on www.RealtyTrac.com
today. I
get emails from them when houses go into foreclosure in my area;
and today, they had my house at the top of the email. There is a
little delay as RealtyTrac must get their information from the
courthouse only after the houses have actually gone through the
foreclosure sale (Mine did not actually sell. It went back to
the bank). Do not worry about me though. I am doing fine. Sure,
I lost the house; but I had plenty of time to accept that and
plan around it. For instance, I moved to a rental condo months
before it ever foreclosed (The foreclosure took almost a year -
about eleven months from when I stopped making mortgage
payments).
From seeing how much lag
time www.RealtyTrac.com
has before they publish a foreclosure, I
realize that the foreclosure crisis in my area is far from over.
RealtyTrac.com has already had a ton of foreclosures in my area,
but they obviously will be publishing all of my neighbors soon.
The same must surely be true for all of the other hot areas
which will, of course, spill over into other areas - even the
areas that have felt pretty comfortable (maybe smug) in escaping
the real estate bust.
