This past weekend, my family and I moved my furniture to
a new condo. It was a lot of work, and I sure did not
want to have to do it; but it did have to be done. My
old house is now vacant or at least almost vacant. I
still have a few things there that I will have to move
this coming weekend, but that will only be a few car
loads - mostly clothes and paperwork.

It was certainly a sad weekend, but I braved it pretty
well. I have not shed any tears over it although I have
come pretty close. I keep telling myself that it is just
a house and just money. I still have my health and my
friends and my family.

The move was prompted by, of course, my upcoming
foreclosure. Although I have not officially been served
any sort of legal notice with a specific date or
anything, I will surely be served paperwork in the very
near future. I have not paid a mortgage payment since
November 2007 and here it is already almost April 2008.
The banks and I have had phone calls and traded letters
and faxes (no emails as banks seem to not have yet
adopted emails) - all to no avail. Until the principal
is reduced, I can no longer afford that beautiful house,
and it will have to go back to the bank as a foreclosure
or be sold in a short sale.

Oddly enough, the very same day that I moved out of the
house, my real estate agent had a phone call from a
couple who wanted to look at the house. I had just
dropped the price to just below five hundred thousand
dollars (It is currently at $499,900). The couple told
my real estate agent that they had been watching the
house for months. Apparently, the price reduction put it
in their reach.

Of course, the banks still have to agree on a short
sale. Although the couple has not put a contract on the
house yet, I will be calling the banks today to check on
their agreement to a short sale. I few weeks back, I
faxed them a letter asking for short sale consideration.
That couple never made an offer on the house so I did
not go back to the bank to see their decision. Now that
a contract looks likely from this other couple, I hope
that the bank has had time to consider their options and
are favorable to a reduced price on the house. I am not
going to post this blog entry until I call the banks and
get their answers (time now 12:24pm CST 03/31/08).

(5:57pm CST 03/31/08) I tried the 800
number for the mortgage company. The telephone company's
recorded operator message stated that the number is no
longer available. I will try back later. Of course,
their email address on their web site has been deleted
as well.
